MOMA - San Francisco, California

Playing with Illustrator

I was curious to see the matrix created when two sets of growing/shrinking boxes were superimposed.  Regarding color, I stuck to the light spectrum and kept it consistent transitioning from one set of boxes to the other.

The black-and-white version yielded some interesting results, too.

Above all else, this was a study on color and contrast.

As we were heading home from Riverside on the 91 West, I saw how beautiful the hills and sunset looked just before we entered the LA basin.  I took a mental snap-shot to later recreate the scene from memory.  Here is the end result.

Out and About

Waterfall in Eaton Canyon.  Pasadena, California.
I like this picture but the only think I regret is not including someone or something for the purpose of scale.  This waterfall is about 50 feet tall.

Louis Vuitton ripped off Felix the Cat

I was watching Felix the Cat the other day and I noticed that the bag he carries has a pattern reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton pattern.  Or, rather, Louis Vuitton has a pattern similar to Felix the Cat's bag.  I tried to find the actual pattern of the Bag of Tricks but they ones I found were pretty blocky whereas the one in the cartoon is more intricate.  I started playing around in Illustrator and made my own pattern more similar to the original than what is out there (even on official merchandise).  I took a few artistic liberties, however, to embellished it just a bit.
